Hello Valentino
I have just found your great web site and am very interested in doing the test too. Although I'm not sure if I'm too late.
I live in the south of Holland. About 100 meters above sea level. The highest temp last summer was 38.7 and the low was -11c. This is however a non typical year!. Usually winter temps in Jan\Feb are around -6c and highs in the summer are 25-32c. We have wet winters, and sometimes go for weeks without seeing the sun! Which is why we come to the Mediterranean so happily!!
I have a cactus bed in a south\west facing aspect which I started this past spring. I also have a greenhouse kept at a min of about 5c during the winter.
The earth in the cactus bed is very free draining and stony. I will go and take some pics of the surrounding area if you think that I'm not too late to apply.
I have included 2 pics of the bed which I will put one of the cactus. I will also cover it with a plastic dome.

Pediocactus planted out

Pediocactus & Sclerocactus
November 21 2003
Hi Valentino
Thanks for sending the cactus. They arrived in good order and have been planted up. The temps at night here have been very mild, and mostly dry. ( 10c last night! Very unusual) When winter really arrives, I'll put a dome over the planted out pediocactus. The other two will stay in the greenhouse, which is heated to about 5c.
Let the winter games begin!
