I live in small village near Šentjur
Slovenia. My garden is 445 m above sea level. On SW side of the hill
zone 6 or 7/B .First winter hard cactus i was planted 8 years ago.
today I have cca 40 hardy cactus (Opuntia, Echinocereus, Escobaria), many
Yuccas, Orostachys and Sempervivum. The winter temperature can go
down to –24 degrees. Last winter was very cold wind we have –19
degrees. Summer is hot ,dry and sunny. (summer 2003 was 38 C degrees.) I
covered beds with cacti with plastic roof cca 30 cm above plants
that the air can normally circulate. This protection from winter
wetness was above plants from November to March.
