Dear Valentino,
Thank you for having joined me in the
experimental program:
"I live in Tuscany near Pisa, Long. 10° 37' 17'' East - Lat. 43° 42'
38'' North, altitude 5 meters over the sea level. Climate is
Mediterranean, in Summer usually the temp. max is 33° C, in Winter
usually min temp. is - 4° C three or four times. Largest amount of
rain arrive on November and December.
I have about 30 cacti in a greenhouse. Some days ago in a little
part of my garden I have built a raised bed for to grow cacti in
open air without any protection, it measures about 5 meters in
length. On a normal ground there are about 18 cm. of gravel, then a
2 cm. layer of acid soil, then another layer (5 cm.) of gravel.

Now I can finally send you the photos of the Sclerocactus and
Pediocactus planted outdoors in a raised bed in my garden...
|

April 16 2004 I send you
the photos, of some days ago, of the Pediocactusus
in flower. Unfortunately we have had some rainy
days, and the duration and beauty of the flowers have felt the effect of
it.
