April 26 2004 Dear Mr. Vallicelli,
I have the pleasure to communicate you the personal data concerning the test on the resistance to the cold weather of the plants grafted on Opuntia Compressa. The negative temperature fell this winter in the month of January to -14 ° C, the plants exposed in full wind at N-E perfectly resisted like testifies by the joined photos of it outdoor: the Pediocactus is in bloom at present, the two other don't show a sign obvious of flowering, and the watering started since mid-April and all goes well, the test is for me conclusive and I now adopted the Opuntia compressa like a very interesting grafting stock.
