  A negative prefix signifying not; in-; non-. In- is prefixed mostly to words of Latin origin, or else to words formed by Latin suffixes; un- is of much wider application, usually attaches to adjectives, participles used as adjectives and less frequently to nouns or adverb.

1) To form a corresponding negative adjective or adverb, meaning not. (e.g. available-unavailable)
2) To do the opposite of; the contrary to: (e.g. rest-unrest)
3) To reverse or undo the result of a specified action (e.g. connected-unconnected,  install-uninstall)
1) To deprive of, release or remove a specified thing (screw-unscrew)
2) To release, free, or remove from: (e.g. yoke-unyoke)
3) Also Used as an intensive: (e.g. loose-unloose)
