  A particular spatial arrangement of plants, acting as a unit with internally consistent characteristics that distinguishes it from contiguous formation  (e.g.: a forest, a prairie, a shrub-land etc.. )  
     
A vegetable formation may extend over hundreds of thousands of square kilometers of the Earth's surface and has distinctive characteristic which make it easily recognizable.

Formations can be distinguished from one place to another.
