Description: Small clump-forming species.
Heavy bloomer, it starts producing flowers when still very
young.
Stems: Upright, cylindrical that branches profusely from the
base.
Radials spines: Dense, white, soft and short.
Central spines: Soft ruby red.
Flowers: Subapical, Large, deep pink to clear violet, with long hairy tube,
long-lived.
Bloom Time: March to April.
Spines: Short, dark.

Cultivation: Roting easily, it is sensitive to over-watering (rot prone)
and needs very good drainage.
Keep drier and cool in winter.
It needs full sun. Very cold resistant above approx -12C
or less for short periods of time.
Propagation: Seeds (usually), it also can be grown from cuttings, as it
branches from the base.
