I live in Richmond Hill Ontario ( 40 km north of Toronto, Canada) and do some experiments with different species including cold hardy.  I just started to grow Sclero and Pedio from seeds. So it will take time to have mature seedlings for indoor and outdoor experiments. If you are interested in getting some results from my area I would be glad to join your project. I am really excited to learn more about those beautiful species. Especially after my trip to Utah and Arizona this year where I visited many Sclero habitats ( see my pictures).

Aug 23 2003   Dear Valentino!
I had no problems to receive your parcel. ... I plan to try our native Canadian Opuntia to graft on (O. humifusa and O. fragilis). But for  now I use Myrtillocactus as stock plants to grow up. Later I will  regraft it on Opuntia.  I send you photos of some my grafts. Seedlings  were 4 months old at the time of grating and two more photos of each in 2 and 4 weeks after the grafting.. Best Paul

Aug 22 2003 Thank you very much for you graftings. They just safely arrived. Unfortunately they are not ready to be placed at the full sun. The long way stretched them and they need to be reanimated for 2-3 weeks. After that I will set them for our winter tests and send you new photos. Paul

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Dec 25 2003 Dear Valentino!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! All the best to you and your family. And many happy returns for your generous cactus mission! In Toronto (Canada) we already have cold and windy weather. Now getting a bit warmer and the snow is melting. So it goes up and down between -10C and + 10C. Up to now your plants are doing not bad, but we have a lot of frost and snow ahead. Let's hope for the best. Yours truly, Paul Davydov
