Change that occurs in an organism to allow it to tolerate a new environment.

The gradual adjustment of the body and adaptation of a living organism (plant, animal or micro-organism) to a changed climatic or other environmental conditions that subjects it to physiological stress. Among these changes are altitude, temperature, humidity, etc.
