The term cultivated is used to indicate a plant or group of plants, as distinguished from their wild relatives, which is planted and maintained by humans.
Sometimes the abbreviation cult. (= cultivated) is used to describe a recognizable assemblage of cultivated individuals characterized for particular attributes, that are clearly distinct, uniform that retain these characteristics when propagated by appropriate means or simply to indicate a plant(s) found in cultivation that have not accurate data (e,g. without a field number, locality of origin) hence a cultivated form.
