The growing period (of a plant species in a given area) is the time period of active growth during a growing season.

The GROWING PERIOD is defined as the period (in days) during the year, when environmental condition ( temperature, soil moisture, etc.) permit plants growth (cf. growing season, growth cycle).

Note: growing period relates to the geographic area, growth cycle to the plant species.
