In Botany, a herbarium is a
collection of preserved plants samples, mainly
dried, well documented, mounted, labelled, and systematically
classified, for use in
scientific study. |
|
| |
|
|
Dry plant samples provide data for
systematical studies, also document a plant
taxon; they contain the "type
specimens" the original naming. These
specimens are equipped with the
name (if available), geographical, chronological and
collectors data, and typically
archived in natural history collections. |
