  Not prominent, difficult to see; not readily noticeable.  
     
Used in botany to describe a  plant or plant part that is not prominent, small, hard to see.
For example: an inconspicuous plant is a plant not readily noticeable in its natural habitat, an inconspicuous flower is a flower which is small, not showy and difficult to see, etc.
