Dictionary of botanic terminology - index of names

Pollen is the dust-like male reproductive cell of flowering plants and cone-bearing plants.

The Pollen grains are the microspores of seed plants, produced and shed from the anther of the flower, by which nuclear division has taken place to form a gametophyte (male gamete) enclosed in the spore wall.. Pollen must unite with the female gametes before fertile seeds can be produced (fertilization)
