Specialization is the structural adaptation of some body part of an organism for a particular function or niche;

The process of specializing is a progressive adaptation of a generic organ or function to a narrow range of conditions making it more suitable for a special purpose. (e.g. succulence is a specialization that make plants more resistant in xeric environments)
