Usually a stamen comprises a
filament
or stalk and a pollen-bearing anther , the latter connected to the
filament either at its base ( innate), at its midpoint
(versatile), or it may be attached for its full length to the side of
the filament (adnate). The number of stamen is usually the same as the
number of petals
In the
Cactaceae
family the stamens are very numerous .
