Synonyms: Almost adult

A developmental life stage when a plant or animal is not fully adult but similar to the adult in appearance although not yet capable of breeding.

Almost adult; the last developmental phase before maturity. The period when an individual exhibit most but not all traits of an adult individual and shows traits, which are intermediate (but some time very different) from those of the fully adult and juvenile individual too. However an individual that has passed through the juvenile phase but not yet attained typical adult characteristics and not yet capable of reproducing; immature.
