  The wood  is a hard fibrous substance composed of cellulose bonded together with lignin,  it forms the main fluid conducting tissue or xylem and make up the greater part beneath the bark of the trunk, branches and roots of trees, shrubs and other woody plants.  
     
True wood is the secondary xylem of gymnosperms and dicotyledon, but the term wood is often applied to other xylem.
