This is the biggest among the Gymnocalyciums and the the crested form can reach impressive dimension.

lant like this are very rare and highly prized by cactus collectors.

 

Cultivation: G. saglionis grow very slowly.  These plant tolerate extremely bright situations  but are likely to suffer from sun scorch or stunted growth if over exposed to direct sunlight during the hottest part of the day in summer.
Water regularly in summer but allow to dry fully before watering again. During the winter months they should be rather kept dry. Since they are big sized plants need plenty of space for their roots, repotting should be done every other year or when the plant has outgrown its pot.

Propagation: Gafting or cuttings  (It don't produces offsets)

It is also occasionally misspelled 'saglione'.
