	In scientific clas sification, a family is a taxonomic group of related or similar organisms. A family contains one or more genera (plural of genus) believed to be related. A group of similar families forms an order.

Further a family may be divided in subfamilies (intermediate taxonomic category between family and genus) and in tribes (An intermediate taxon between family and genus, but lower than sub-family)
