Echinocereus poselgeri is also known as Wilcoxia poselgeri, it has very tall and slender, sparingly branched, pencil-thin stems arising from tuberlike roots, several times thicker than the stems. They have bright pink flowers, this peculiar specie is an interesting addition to any collection.

In the garden there is still some snow, but during the day the temperature is quite warm, this is the first butterfly I saw in the green-house. It was particularly attracted by the Turbinicarpus knuthianus flowers.

Turbinicarpus valdezianus

A miniature gem among cactuses, one of the smallest of the genus, difficult on own roots, easy on a graft. Odd feathery white spines spreading flat around the areoles. White, pink or purple flowers bigger than the plant. This outstanding plant may be every collection.

In this season only a few cactus are in bloom, for example Mammillaria shiedeana ssp. giselae, & Mammillaria solisioides. But this month I show the photo of a plant without flowers. Isn't it nice?

This Arios start flowering when still young, the plants in the photo are five years old.

This bright red fruits last on the plant almost one year!!! The photo on left has been taken on October 01 2003, but if you click on the picture you can see the same plant with fruit in April 2003: after 7 month they are still very decorative.

When grafted on Opuntia compressa M. theresae produces uninterruptedly multiple flowerings from April to September. And most of the plants habitually bloom contemporarily. The show is enchanting!
