A physical, chemical, or biological factor that causes disease or injury.

An active and efficient cause; capable of producing a disease or injury, like a substance that exerts some deleterious effect upon an organism or a pathogen that is able to transmit a disease to its host.

"Biotic agent" means any living entity.
