Dictionary of botanic terminology - index of names

     
  Simple means composed of  a single piece or series;  
     
For example:
(1) a simple leaf, is a leaf with lamina not divided into leaflets.
(2) a simple inflorescence, is an unbranched inflorescence with the pedicels arising from the main axis.
(3) a simple fruit is a fruit derived from the ripening of a simple or compound ovary with but one pistil.
(4) a simple pistil or ovary  is a pistil having  a single carpel.
