Family: Cactaceae (Cactus Family)

Scientific name:  Mammillaria coahuilensis subsp. albiarmata (Boed.) D.R.Hunt 1998

Conservation status: Listed in CITES appendix 2.

Synonyms:
  • Mammillaria albiarmata Boed. 1935
  • Porfiria coahuilense Boed. 1926

Mr. Reppenhagen regards Mammillaria albiarmata as a synonym of Mammillaria coahuilensis whereas Dr. Hunt asserts that it is a form of it with more numerous radial spines.

Cultivation: This species has few special demand and whatever view one adopts it is worth a place in every Mammillaria collection.
Be careful with watering, which all thick rooted species require (rot sensitive), and patience to match its slow growth. During the winter rest, the plant may pull near the surface of the potting mix.
